SCOPEThis RPSTL lists and authorizes spares andrepair parts; special tools; special test,measurement, and diagnostic equipment(TMDE); and other special support equipmentrequired for performance of unit, direct sup-port, and general support maintenance of theM578 Recovery Vehicle. It authorizes the re-quisitioning, issue, and disposition of spares,repair parts, and special tools as indicated bythe Source, Maintenance, and Recoverability(SMR) codes.2. GENERALIn addition to Section I, Introduction, thisRepair Parts and Special Tools List is dividedinto the following sections:a. Section Il. Repair Parts List. A list ofspares and repair parts authorized by thisRPSTL for use in the performance of mainte-nance. The list also includes parts whichmust be removed for replacement of the auth-orized parts. Parts lists are composed of func-tional groups in ascending alphanumeric se-quence, with the parts in each group listed inascending figure and item number sequence.Bulk materials are listed in item name se-quence. Repair parts kits are listed separatelyin their own functional group within SectionIl. Repair parts for repairable special tools arealso listed in this section. Items listed areshown on the associated illustration(s)/figure(s).b. Section Ill. Special Tools List. A list ofspecial tools, special TMDE, and other specialsupport equipment authorized by this RPSTL(as indicated by Basis of Issue (BOI) informa-tion in DESCRIPTION AND USABLE ON CODE(UOC) column) for the performance of mainte-nance.c. Section IV. Cross-Reference Indexes. Alist, in National Item Identification Number(NIIN) sequence, of all National stock num-bered items appearing in the listing, followedby a list in alphanumeric sequence of all partnumbers appearing in the listing. Nationalstock numbers and part numbers are cross--referenced to each illustration figure and itemnumber appearance. The figure and item num-ber index lists figure and item numbers inalphanumeric sequence and cross-referencesNSN, CAGEC, and part numbers.3. EXPLANATION OF COLUMNS (SEC-TIONS II AND Ill)a. ITEM NO.
