Refer to page 2-59.With brake pedal (1) depressed, moveshift lever (2) into neutral, pull out anddown on brake release handle (3).Release brake pedal (1).Failure to observe proper engineshutdown procedures will causehigh engine failure rate.Set hand throttle control lever (4) to runengine at 1,000 to 1,200 rpm and allowengine to cool for 3 to 5 minutes untiltemperature reaches 170°F - 185°F(77°C - 85°C).Push in throttle control lever (4) to returnengine to normal idle.Turn off all communication and ac-cessory switches.Pull out engine shutdown handle (5) untilengine stops, then push handle back tohull.NOTEIf engine doesn’t stop, checkshutdown linkage.Turn instrument and MASTER switchesoff.TO WING A DISABLED M578 RECOVERY VEHICLEDo not tow a disabled vehicleover 5 mph (8 kph).
