If the generator grille does not operate, stop engine (see para. 2-10k) and notify unit maintenance. (11) If vehicle is not going to be driven for a long period, idle engine at 1000 to 1200 rpm for 30 minutes to recharge batteries. e. Starting Main Engine by Towing. NOTE · Under normal conditions and on level terrain, engine may be started by towing vehicle. · Tow start vehicle if it cannot be slave started or if starter trouble exists and vehicle must be operated. (1) Prepare vehicle for towing with tow bar. See paragraph 2-11a. NOTE Station observer in clear view of both operators to direct towing operation.
