TM 9-2350-256-34-12-21. Electrical Componentsa. General. The electrical components allocated forreplacement by direct and general supportmaintenance personnel are the high voltage powerpack, bilge pump electrical system components andthe miscellaneous leads and wiring harnesses com-prising the vehicle electrical installation. The circuitnumber of each cable is shown on a metal band at-tached to the junction of terminal end of each cable.Refer to TM 9-2350-256-20 for a listing of the circuitnumbers assigned to the vehicle and for the vehiclewiring diagram.WARNINGCertain precautions must be observedwhen removing electrical components.Accidental contact of metal tools be-tween battery or starter cables and theframe of the vehicle causes a directshort circuit resulting in arcing and in-stant heating of the tool to red hot. Thiscan cause painful burns on the handsand serious damage to tools, vehiclecomponents and batteries. Moreover, the overloaded battery may explode, spraying hot acid and sharp fragmentsover the surrounding area. The correctprocedure when removing electricalequipment, harnesses, leads or cables isto first turn off the master switch andthen disconnect the battery groundcables. Protect the ground cables fromaccidental contact with the battery ter-minals. When the work has been com-pleted, connect the battery groundcables last.CAUTIONWhen removing harnesses, leads andcables, check circuit number markers. Ifany are missing, illegible or damaged tothe extent that they might come off, tagcables with correct circuit numbers(refer to applicable wiring or schematicdiagrams in this chapter or the vehiclewiring diagram in TM 9-2350-256-20)prior to disconnecting them.b.
