TM 9--2350--292--100053 00--1OPERATE AUXILIARY POWER UNIT.0053 00THIS WORK PACKAGE COVERS:Starting APU, Stopping APU, Charging Vehicle BatteriesINITIAL SETUP:Personnel RequiredThreeReferencesWP 0101 00WP 0083 00WP 0020 00WP 0076 00WP 0034 00The auxiliary power unit (APU) is used to charge vehicle batteries, power impact wrench or refuel/defuel pump,and, in an emergency, it can raise/lower boom or spade, retrieve main/hoist/auxiliary winch cables, or lower hoistedload to ground.STARTING APUNOTETo start APU in extremely cold weather (0° to --25° F (--17° to --31°C)) refer to (WP 0076 00).If rear fuel tanks are too low for APU operation, open forward tank valve (WP 0020 00).Close valve when you are finished.When operating APU on side slopes, ensure vehicle has at least a quarter tank of fuel andclose fuel control valve to the right rear fuel tank (WP 0020 00). Open valve when you arefinished.To operate hydraulics system, SYSTEM SELECTOR lever must be in MAIN position. Tooperate REFUEL/DEFUEL system or impact wrench, SYSTEM SELECTOR must be inREFUEL position.1. Check APU chaincase and crankcase oil levels (Table 6, WP 0101 00).2. Turn OFF all radio and electrical switches.3. Set SYSTEM SELECTOR control lever (1) to MAIN.1
