ARMAMENT PROTECTION
Cover the .50--caliber machine gun with its protective cover (TM 9--2350--292--10).
SEALING INSPECTION
1. When time and facilities permit, the engine compartment should be flooded with water. At this time, a thorough
inspection should be made at the bulkhead power takeoff drive shaft cover to discover any leaks. The engine
should be operated to detect any malfunctions as a result of water leakage.
NOTE
To prevent buildup of sand in engine compartment during
fording operation, removal of access covers under engine
compartment is necessary.
2. Remove and stow two access covers, gaskets and mounting hardware from hull under engine compartment (WP
0434 00).
3. Pour a bucket of water around base of each engine air inlet. Look through air selector valve for evidence of leaks.
If leaks are found, reseal engine air inlet.
