MAINTENANCE OF AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT
Section I. COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS
4-1. GENERAL. The communication equipment installed in the M88A1 is for internal and external communications. This
section covers the AN/VRC-44, AN/VRC-46, and AN/VRC-64 radio systems, the MX-7778A/GRC suppressor, and the
TSEC/KY-38 X-mode equipment.
4-2. INSPECTION. Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) must be done on all radio and
intercommunication equipment (see tab. 2-1). This maintenance must also be done when:
a.
Equipment is first installed.
b.
Equipment is reinstalled after removal for any reason.
c.
At least once a week if equipment is in standby condition.
4-3. REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION.
WARNING
Ensure vehicle MASTER switch is OFF before installing or removing radio or
intercom equipment to avoid electrical shock and burns.
a.
Removal.
(1)
Disconnect all cables from equipment being used.
(2)
Loosen latching thumbscrews on front of mount.
(3)
Pull equipment out from mount.
b.
Installation.
(1)
Insert equipment into mount.
(2)
Tighten latching thumbscrews on front of mount.
(3)
Connect all cables.
