The major differences between models are as follows:a. ENGINE DECKEarlier versions of the M88A1 have the original engine deck with integral hinges that connect the engine deck andthe right-side door. Later models have the new, optional engine deck with hinges that are connected by screws tothe deck and then welded.b. VOLTAGE REGULATOREarlier versions of the M88Al have a single voltage regulator.Later versions of the vehicle have dual voltageregulators. See foldouts 3, 5, 7, and 9 for configuration differences.c. SPADE RELEASEEarlier versions of the M88 have a mechanically operated spade which is released through the use of cables andlinkages. Later versions have a hydraulically operated spade.d.
