There isn’t much of it, but you have to keep it up. The forms andrecords you fill out have several uses. They are a permanent record of services, repairs, and modifications madeon your vehicle. They are reports to unit maintenance and to your commander. They are also checklists that tellyou what is wrong with the equipment after its last use, and whether those faults have been repaired. For informa-tion on those forms and records, see DA PAM 738-750 (TAMMS).GENERAL INFORMATION PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES1. General. Safe and efficient vehicle operation requires regular checks of equipment. When performing PMCS, thecrew discovers malfunctions or performs routine maintenance for upkeep of the vehicle’s systems. Malfunctionsrequire corrective action to avoid equipment failure or injury to personnel. The suspension system requiresspecial attention. Ensure that all lubrication tasks assigned to the crew in Table 6 are performed.2. Warnings And Cautions. Always observe the WARNINGS and CAUTIONS appearing in the PMCS table.WARNINGS and CAUTIONS appear before applicable procedures. You must observe these WARNINGS andCAUTIONS to prevent serious injury to yourself or others or prevent equipment damage.EXPLANATION OF TABLE ENTRIES1. Item Number column. Numbers in this column are for reference. When completing DA Form 2404 (EquipmentInspection and Maintenance Worksheet), include the item number for the check/service indicating a fault. Itemnumbers also appear in the order that you must do checks and services for the intervals listed.2. Interval column. This column tells you when you must do the procedure listed in the procedure column. BEFOREprocedures must be done before you operate or use the equipment for its intended mission. DURING proceduresmust be done during the time you are operating the equipment for the intended mission. AFTER procedures mustbe done immediately after you have operated the equipment.3. Location, Item to Check/Service column. This column provides the location and the item to be checked orserviced. The item location is underlined.4. Procedure column. This column gives the procedure you must do to check or service the item listed in theCheck/Service column to know if the equipment is ready or available for its intended mission or for operation. Youmust do the procedure at the time stated in the interval column.5. Not Fully Mission Capable If: column. Information in this column tells you what faults will keep your equipmentfrom being capable of performing its primary mission. If you determine that a fault exists on your vehicle as listedin this column, DO NOT OPERATE YOUR VEHICLE. Once a malfunction is identified, troubleshoot it using theinstructions in this manual. If unable to correct the fault, write it on DA Form 2404 and notify unit maintenanceimmediately.
