NOTE
l There are two winch control
cylinders in the M578 vehicle.
Maintenance can be performed on
either winch control cylinder
without removing both cylinders.
l Maintenance procedures are writ-
ten for one winch control cylinder,
but apply to both.
1 Remove internal retaining ring (1), head
breather machine thread plug (2), set-
screw (3), and plate positioner spacer
from cylinder (5).
