Never allowcable to run through hands.Broken wires can cause painfulinjuries. Do not operatewinch/crane with less than fourturns of wire rope on drums.Failure to observe these warn-ings could result in injuries topersonnel.NOTEDriver and crane operator mustwork together to emplacespade.2 Pay out boom winch wire rope forward,until single boom block can be reachedat rear of vehicle. Place boom block atfront center of vehicle. Then guide vehi-cle forward SLOWLY.3456Loosen and remove spade travel lock (2)from spade and move handle (3) toLOWER position to lower spade toground. Attach single boom lock (1) toeither eye (4) of spade using a suitableshackle from equipment on vehicle.Lock suspension system. Refer to page2-68.Back vehicle just enough toplace idler wheel over spade.Backing vehicle too far willdamage supporting members.Place spade control valve handle inLOWER position. Shift boom winch tolow gear. At same time, slowly backvehicle while crane operator reels inboom winch wire to emplace spade.Disconnect single boom block fromspade. Unlock and lock suspensionlocknut system to make sure there isproper track-to-ground contact.2-71
