TM 9-2350-238-10EMERGENCY OPERATION OF CRANEAND SPADE–CONTINUEDRELEASING BOOM WINCHBRAKEReleasing boom winch brake will allow asuspended load to be lowered and boomwinch wire rope to be unwound from winchdrum.12345Make sure all personnel standclear of any suspended loadwhen releasing boom winchbrake.Pull boom winch brake pressure selectorvalve (1) out. Place winch shift lever (2)in neutral.NOTEOperate hydraulic ram handpump slowly to control descent. rate of load.Operate hydraulic ram hand pump (3)slowly until boom winch brake is re-leased and load is lowered to ground.Disconnect wire rope from load.Roll up wire rope and stow securely onvehicle deck.Push brake pressure selector valve (1) inwhen load is on ground and wire rope issecure. This will set winch brake.LOWERING BOOM1 If a load is supported by boom, releaseboom winch brake before attempting tolower boom. Refer to page 2-88.2 Remove two screws (1) and washers (2)securing cover (3) over boom cylinderbypass valve and remove cover. Thecover is on deck behind and to left of .rigger’s seat.2-88
