TM 9-2350-238-10EMERGENCY OPERATION OF CRANEAND SPADE–CONTINUEDLOWERING BOOM–CONTINUEDMake sure all personnel standclear of boom.3 To lower boom, open boom cylinderbypass valve (4) by slowly turning han-dle (5) clockwise.4 When boom is completely lowered, closeboom cylinder bypass valve (4) by turn-ing handle (5) counterclockwise, Positioncover (3) and secure with two screws(1) and washers (2).RELEASING TOW WINCH BRAKEReleasing tow winch brake will release wire2 Operate hydraulic ram hand pump (3)rope tension and allow tow winch wire ropeslowly until tow winch brake is releasedto be unwound from winch drum.Make sure all personnel standclear of any load supported bywire rope which may roll freewhen releasing tow winchbrake.1 Pull tow winch brake pressure selectorvalve ( 1 ) out. Place winch shift lever (2)in neutral.NOTEOperate hydraulic ram handpump slowly to control releaserate of load.and load is secured.NOTEMake sure tension has beenreleased from wire rope.3 Disconnect wire rope from load.4 Raise and secure level wind (4) to boom.5 Roll up wire rope and stow securely onvehicle deck.6 Push brake pressure selector valve ( 1 ) inwhen load is secure.
