CHAPTER 16: MAINTENANCE OF M239 SMOKE GRENADE LAUNCHER SYSTEM TM 9-2350-256-2016-1 REPLACE SOLENOID VALVE ASSEMBLIES AND BRACKET-Continued3Loosen nut (6) at elbow (7).4Remove fuel line (8) by removing nut (9) fromadapter (10).5Remove mounting bracket (11) by removing twobolts (12) from engine lifting eye (13).6Remove solenoid valves (2) from mounting bracket(11) by removing four bolts (14) and four flat washers(15).7Place solenoid valves (2) in soft-jaw vise anddisconnect fuel tube assembly (16) from elbow (17).8Remove elbows (17 and 18) from two solenoidvalves (2).9Remove adapter (10) from elbow (18).10Remove pipe nipple (19).b.INSTALLATIONNOTE• If new solenoid valve is to be used,check position of electrical connector byholding valve with inlet port to right sideand outlet port to left side. Electricalconnector must be 45 degrees (°) frominlet port and pointing to right.Reposition, if necessary, by placingsolenoid valve in soft-jawed vise andloosening acorn nut at top of valve.Position electrical connector and torqueacorn nut to 50 pound-inches (5.6newton-meters).• If new solenoid valves are used, remove protective covers and felt filtering disks (if present) from inletand outlet ports.• Bottom surfaces of solenoid valves must be parallel (check on flat surface).1Install pipe nipple (19) between outlet port of one solenoid valve (2) and inlet port of second solenoid valve.2Place solenoid valves (2) in soft-jawed vise.3Install elbow (17) into remaining solenoid valve (2) outlet port with connection end of elbow at 12 o'clock position.16-2
