SERVICE CONDITION (IR HEADLIGHTS)-ContinuedWARNINGRemove all jewelry such as rings, dog tags,bracelets, etc. If jewelry contacts a metalsurface a direct short may result in instantheating of tools, damage to equipment, andinjury or death to personnel.E Reconnect headlight base assembly to headlightassembly. Disconnect headlight and dimmerswitch wiring harness from dimmer switch. Placea jumper wire from socket C to pin C of wire514/515. Place red lead of multimeter on pin A ofwire 515 and black lead to ground. Turn MASTERswitch on, UNLOCK and move main lightingswitch to B.O. DRIVE position, B.O. SELECTORswitch to IR, and check voltage. Turn MASTER,main lighting, and B.O. SELECTOR switches off.If voltage is present, go to step G. If voltage isnot present, go to step F.F Place a jumper wire from socket C to pin C of wire514/515. Place red lead of multimeter on pin B ofwire 514 and black lead to ground. Turn MASTERswitch on, UNLOCK and move main lightingswitch to B.O. DRIVE position, B.O. SELECTORswitch to IR, press dimmer switch, and check forvoltage. Turn MASTER, main lighting, B.O.SELECTOR, and dimmer switches off. If voltageis present, go to step H. If voltage is not present,go to step I.G Reconnect headlight and dimmer switch wiringharness to dimmer switch. Disconnect wire 515 ofheadlight base assembly at connector. Place redlead of multimeter in wire 515 and black lead toground. Turn MASTER switch on, UNLOCK andmove main lighting switch to B.O. DRIVEposition, B.O. SELECTOR switch to IR, andcheck for voltage. Turn MASTER, main lighting,and B.O. SELECTOR switches off. If voltage ispresent, repair/replace wire 515 of headlight basewiring harness (see paragraph 6-64). If voltage isnot present, repair/replace wire 515 of headlightand dimmer switch wiring harness (see paragraph6-65).2-292
