CHAPTER 2: VEHICLE MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONSTM 9-2350-256-202-19 ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING-ContinuedPERSONNEL HEATER CONTROL SYSTEM-ContinuedWARNINGRemove all jewelry such as rings, dog tags ,bracelets, etc. If jewelry contacts a metalsurface a direct short may result in instantheating of tools, damage to equipment, andinjury or death to personnel.I Place red lead of multimeter in socket D of wire 405and black lead to ground. Turn MASTER switch on,HEATER CONTROL switch to START, and checkfor voltage. Turn MASTER and HEATERCONTROL switches OFF. If voltage is present, goto step J. If voltage is not present, repair/replacewire 405 of heater control box to heater wiringharness (see paragraph 6-87).J Reconnect heater control box to heater wiringharness to personnel heater. Disconnect wire 402from heater fuel pump. Place red lead ofmultimeter in wire 402 and black lead to ground.Turn MASTER switch on, HEATER CONTROLswitch to START, and check for voltage. TurnMASTER and HEATER CONTROL switches OFF.If voltage is present, go to step K. If voltage is notpresent, repair/replace wire 402 of heater controlbox to heater wiring harness (see paragraph 6-87).K Reconnect wire 402 to heater fuel pump. Disconnectfuel line from fuel pump. Turn MASTER switch on,HEATER CONTROL switch to START, and checkfor fuel flow. Turn MASTER and HEATERCONTROL switches OFF. If fuel flow is present,troubleshoot personnel heater (TM 9-2540-205-24&P). If fuel flow is not present, replace heaterfuel pump (see paragraph 10-2).2-236
