This initial adjustment will permit the engine to bestarted and warmed up prior to final adjustment.NOTE: All carburetor adjustments must be made withthe air cleaner on engine. Best adjustments made withfuel tank 1/2 full.Final AdjustmentPlace governor speed control lever in "FAST" position.Turn needle valve in until engine misses (clockwise -lean mixture) then turn it out past smooth operating pointuntil engine runs unevenly (rich mixture). Now turnneedle valve to the midpoint between rich and lean sothe engine runs smoothly. Next, adjust idle RPM. Rotatethrottle counterclockwise and hold against stop. Adjustidle speed adjusting screw to obtain 1750 RPM. Releasethrottle - engine should accelerate without hesitation orsputtering. If engine does not accelerate properly, thecarburetor should be re-adjusted, usually to a slightlyricher mixture.Fig. 58 - Setting Needle ValveNOTE: When starting a Pulsa-Jet engine for the firsttime, fill fuel tank completely full. This eliminates primingthe fuel pump. thus insuring a quick start.17
