Clean area around exterior and interior with dry-
cleaning solvent.

Apply caulking compound (Table I-1, item 3) all
around areas indicated (1).

Pull main winch cable (1) in until a light pressure
is applied between clevis and opening. Seal
exposed area around cable with caulking
compound (Table I-1, item 3).

Seal hull front cover (2) with caulking compound
(Table I-1, item 3).

Seal all around cover plate (3) at opening in hull
front cover (2) with caulking compound (Table I-
1, item 3).

Seal at both ends of cover plate (4) with caulking
compound (Table I-1, item 3).

Seal personnel doors with caulking compound
(Table I-1, item 3) only if watertight seal cannot
be obtained with regular door seals.

Check drain plugs in exterior stowage
compartments to ensure watertight fit. Seal
stowage compartment doors (5 and 6) with
caulking compound (Table I-1, item 3).

Use caulking compound (Table I-1, item 3) to
seal around all mounting surfaces of deep water
fording components, such as right and left engine
air intake pipes, personnel heater air intake cover
and exhaust, acetylene vent, fuel tank vent, and
engine generator vent.
