b. Crew compartment area:
(1) Inspect drain valves WP 0452 00) for proper operation and fit. Repair or replace as necessary. Close
drain valves.
(2) Inspect .50--caliber machine gun cover (TM 9--1005--213--10). Replace torn or damaged cover.
(3) Inspect service brake cable assembly boot (WP 0369 00), steering control linkage bellows (WP 0404 00),
shifting control linkage bellows (WP 0407 00) and accelerator linkage boot (WP 0226 00) for wear or
damage. Replace boots or bellows that do not provide a watertight fit from the sponson side or the en-
gine compartment side of the bulkhead, whichever is applicable.
(4) Inspect boom foot boots for proper seal. If replacement is necessary, notify direct support maintenance.
(5) Inspect personnel door seals (WP 0431 00 and WP 0432 00) for watertight fit. Replace defective seals.
(6) Inspect installation of crew members periscopes and vision blocks (WP 0444 00 and WP 0450 00) for
watertight fit. Repair or replace as required.
c. Engine compartment area:
(1) Inspect the following items to ensure a watertight fit: main engine oil filler cap and oil level gauge
(TM 9--2350--292--10); transmission filler cap and oil level gauge (TM 9--2350--292--10); and Auxiliary
Power Unit (APU) oil filler cap (WP 0602 00 or WP 0603 00) and saber gauge (WP 0598 00 or WP
0599 00). Replace any item that does not provide a watertight fit.
(2) Inspect main engine air induction hoses (WP 0212 00) and APU air induction hose (WP 0620 00 or WP
0621 00). Replace any item found defective.
3. Vehicle Performance
NOTE
The recovery vehicle must be in perfect operating condi-
tion. The procedures described herein are included as
precautionary measures. Make all necessary engine and
transmission tests as directed in TM 9--2350--292--10 and
TM 9--2350--292--20 to ensure satisfactory vehicle opera-
tion.
a. Engine operation: Operate engine (TM 9--2350--292--10) and report any malfunction or deficiency to autho-
rized maintenance activity or major unit commander for necessary repairs or replacements.
